  • Yield rates:
    • 1-year at 4.98%
    • 2-year at 4.60%
    • 5-year at 4.24%
    • 10-year at 4.27%
  • Unemployment Rate 3.9%
The National Association of Realtors (NAR) agreed to make it easier for home buyers to negotiate agent fees as part of a settlement of legal claims concerning a conspiracy keeping agent fees elevated. The WSJ noted that the settlement could save buyers $30 billion annually, as economists at the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond calculated. Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell acknowledged stronger-than-expected growth and stubborn inflation but indicated that the Fed still anticipated cutting interest rates in 2024, according to the Wall Street Journal. The New York Times reported that Japan’s central bank raised interest rates for the first time since 2007, pushing the benchmark rate just above zero. Japanese interest rates have been negative since 2016, but the economy shows growth, including inflation bolstered by wage increases.
